While The Charlton Guy is busy accusing this seller...

... of running a phony auction:

http://www.comicscorral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2893

on which I see no red flags whatsoever,

MajorAdventure's Major Scam takes place unnoticed, before his very nose:

Yes, an OBVIOUSLY pirated scan. Way to go, CG!!! You have quite a "knack" for spotting "scams".

PS: I can list about 10 more probable scams that I spotted in the Silver age and Golden age sections, just closing TODAY alone!

I just read that thread and didn't see a resolution on the FF 48. I've seen that seller before, many times, and it seemed legit to me.

That seller has been around since the dawn of Ebay! A 99.7% feedback and 4.7 item as described approval rating with almost 1000 positives. The handle has remained unchanged, and although he hasn't sold any big ticket CGC items lately, he's listed PLENTY of them in the past, and BOUGHT just as many!

I think he may even be a CGC forum member who just hasn't read CG's thread.

If I remember correctly, I bought from him without a hitch some years back.

The scan is so obviously the byproduct of a scanner that's slowly "disintegrating" and in his past listing descriptions (which he received positive feedback on) he does say something to the effect, "sorry about the poor quality of the scan, I need a new scanner", or something like that.

CG knows I love him, but he has no reason whatsoever to point at this listing as being the least bit suspicious. Then again, when you see demons in some places, that condition can worsen to the point that you see demons EVERYWHERE.

I remember doing that same thing when I sold some comics on E-Bay. I used a digital camera and admitted that I was not the best photographer in the world when I photographed those books (I'm still not that good at digital photography).

Very few are real good at it. What seller always has a huge image that's well illuminated, crystal clear all the time, and shows each and every detail of the comic from all angles, inside and out? Maybe in Fantasyland?

It appears as though CG was right. But presently, there's also a CGC forum theory that the BUYER is the scam artist in this transaction. Any further details on this from either buyer or seller?
