This is the end of album # 9 which means we are halfway through the story. Album # 10 concludes the story.

You are reading Volume 9 of the Largo Winch series scripted by Jean Van Hamme and drawn by Philippe Francq. Their names are on the last page I posted. Volume 14 came out last November. You would know Van Hamme as the scripter of XIII and he also wrote Thorgal (he just finished his last script on that series for volume 27 (even though the series will go on with another writer)). XIII is about to wrap up with volume 17 out and volume 18 will be the last. XIII is drawn by William Vance who became famous drawing Bob Morane in the 70's (I could show you scans of that or Thorgal also). Alias has just started to publish XIII in the US this past year. Thorgal has been drawn by Rosinski.

Van Hamme is prolific as he also has revived the classic Blake and Mortimer and is writing new series such as Wayne Shelton and Lady S.

Van Hamme wrote a series of novels in the '70s, so called "financial western" and he's been pulling stories from those to build the Largo Winch series. Each "arch" has to do with the W Group business struggle. First, it was the succession of Largo to the head of the Group, then his establishing his powers in the Group, then a drug trafficking fight, then this about Oil rights, and next is the struggle for control of media with the acquisition of cable channels in the Western US. It's really a business adventure series.

As for the art, it's simply breathtaking. If you've ever been to Venice or Paris, the representation is extremely faithful and the ambiance is kept intact. Good stuff.
