I want our boys to come home too as soon as the job's finished over there. Iraq is the festering shithole (contrary to Ill's comments) and there is no glory getting shot up in Iraq. We have to accomplish our objectives over there and can't let those who have died be in vein.

I think this war has gone on long enough. Get our boys home.

I think you mean "vain". That thing you're using to hold up your coffee table? That's a dictionary. Try reading it.

See? There's a difference between making a typographical error and being a total [censored]. Remember this for next time, k? Thx. Bye.®

Obviously you've gone off the deep end Logan. If this lax board is too stressful to you, why bother posting here? If you define it as a "festering shithole" yet continue to post, what does that say about your pathetic existence? Just go away if you are going to be a dick. And yes, you started it, not me.

Golly, look what happens when Shield makes a total ass of himself.

And you're damned right I started it. This place is boring as and I needed SOMETHING to do. In that regard, you were on to something there: Why bother posting here?

Can't think of a single reason.

..and yet you continue to post.

It's real simple, would you like me to remove the temptation of posting for you? It's a click away. Just say the word.

Wow. Nice name calling! Bannings are free, would you like one? It's probably not in your best interest to call the owner of the site names, now is it?

Just one more time and you won't have to worry about being over here. C'mon, I dare you!

I think everyone in their right mind want our troops to come home as soon as possible. However, to set a time table or cut and run is not a plan. We need to finish the job. As soon as the Iraqi police and military stand up our troops can stand down. The war itself has been over going on about 3 years now. We are dealing with an insurgency. Everyone has to understand that we occupied Germany and Japan for the better part of a decade after WW2 and it takes time to weed out all the insurgents in an occupied country. The tide is turning in this war with the death of Zarquawi and all the intelligence recovered. I suspect the newly elected Iraqi government is going to offer an olive branch for the insurgents to give up. If they don't, then there will be a serious crackdown. To leave before the job is done would create a vacuum which would lead to millions of deaths just like what happened after Vietnam. I suspect in 2 years time things will be much different in Iraq.

I know all about the Marshall plan after WW2. I watched a special last night about Auschwitz, where 1.1 MILLION died from 41-45. Kind of puts things into perspective.

All I'm saying is let's give our troops the equipment to fight; if more troops need to be sent over to speed up the entire process let's get it going.

Also, you realize if you're going to make WWII references, this Gulf War II has lasted longer than the United States landing in N. Africa for Operation Torch (43) to VE day in May of '45. War is hell - if our objective is freedom and democracy in Iraq let's get it over with quicker.

Don't you think we should've committed a larger amount of troops to begin with?

I honestly don't think we needed or need a more troops. I would have liked to see our Armed Forces unleashed to do what they do best. I think the politicians have handcuffed our troops with rules of engagement. It was also stupid to try and build infrastructure while the insurgents are trying to blow infrastructure up. Kill the insurgents and then worry about winning hearts and minds. Like I said now that there is an elected government in Iraq I think the insurgents days are numbered. They will be offered an olive branch for the insurgents to surrender and those who don't will be hunted down.

I sure hope you're right. I watched "Kathy Griffin's My life on the D List" yesterday and she travelled to Iraq to perform for the troops. She visited the military hospital first; there was a serviceman who'd just lost his fiance the night before from an insurgent's bomb. Seriously, the night before he was out walking with her, holding her hand, and all of a sudden she died right next to him. Kid looked no older than 21-22. Kathy and her entourage spent that night in one of Saddam's former palaces, and a few more bombs went off and shook the "protected" building she was staying in. That country is still in total chaos, which dissapoints me greatly considering the amount of time and money we've spent over there.

Are we making progress? Sure. I just can't help thinking we're dicking around more over there than we should be. I know it takes time, and to cut and retreat would be a huge insult to the lives lost over there.

We're the f-ing United States, with the baddest military on the planet. Let's use some military spending on intelligence to round up and detain (or kill) the insurgents.

Part of the problem is that we call the insurgents, well insurgents. These are enemy combatants. Otherwise, it means we are there trying to get one side to win an insurrection. If that is the case we have no business there and should pull our troops immediately.
I agree with MM, all of the rebuilding before there is a shred of political stability only benefits the "Insurgents" and contractors. Which makes you wonder. Okay, I am going to drop the conspiracy talk for now.
